Real-time record submission to the AEAT: how Verifactu mode works
The defining feature of a Verifactu system is the near-instant submission of billing records to the Spanish Tax Agency. Understanding how that submission happens explains why this mode simplifies compliance so much.
The flow, step by step
1. The user issues an invoice from the system. 2. The software generates the billing record, with its hash chained to the previous record. 3. The record is automatically sent to the AEAT via the enabled web services, at the moment of generation or immediately after. 4. The AEAT acknowledges receipt and the record becomes available for verification.
What happens with no connection
The system does not freeze: if there is no connection when issuing, the record is still generated and placed in a submission queue, sent as soon as the connection is restored. Invoicing never stops because of a network outage.
Why it simplifies compliance
- With records held by the AEAT, the software does not need the reinforced local retention safeguards required in non-Verifactu mode.
- The invoice can be verified by the customer by scanning its QR.
- It reduces the burden of any inspection: the authority already has the information.
Conclusion
Verifactu mode turns every invoice into a record reported to the tax authority in real time, without slowing the business even during connection outages. It is the simplest way to comply with the regulation. Invoseal handles submission, queuing and acknowledgements transparently for the user.
