The simplified invoice is the evolution of the former till receipt. It documents a transaction with less data than a full invoice, but it is still an invoice for all purposes and, as such, must generate its issuance record in the billing system (SIF).

When it can be issued

As a general rule, a simplified invoice may be issued when the amount does not exceed 400 euros (VAT included), or 3,000 euros in certain sectors such as retail, hospitality, passenger transport or parking. Outside these cases, or when the recipient is a business or professional who needs a full invoice to deduct VAT, an ordinary invoice must be issued.

What data it requires

The simplified invoice carries less content than a full one, but it is not free of requirements: number and series, date of issue, identification of the issuer with their tax ID, a description of the goods or services, the tax rate and, where applicable, the wording "VAT included", plus the total amount. When the recipient wishes to deduct VAT, they may request that their identification details and the tax charged be shown separately.

Its record in the SIF

For the purposes of the system, a simplified invoice generates an issuance record identical in logic to that of a full invoice: it is chained by fingerprint to the previous records and, where applicable, reported to the tax authority. There is no "light" route that leaves receipts outside the system: every documented transaction must be recorded.

Coexistence with the full invoice

A business may issue both simplified and full invoices within the same SIF, and even upgrade a simplified one to a full invoice at the customer's request. What matters is that both feed the same integrity chain and that series are correctly defined. Compliant software handles both types transparently, ensuring that neither receipts nor ordinary invoices break the required traceability.
